BioAcoustics Network

Services

Our focus is tracking bats and toothed whales with large arrays and measuring sound parameters but we offer a variety of methods and analysis tools tailered to your situation. Please contact us with your specific requirements.

Bats

We use up to 16 microphones in up to 4 arrays to record the echolocation calls of bats in the field.

We compute the

  • 3D flight path
  • height or distance relative to objects
  • geo-referenced flight path

We study

  • inter- and intraspecific interactions
  • call intensity
  • emission direction
  • directionality
  • call interval
  • call duration

Toothed whales

We use up to 16 hydrophones to record the echolocation calls of toothed whales.

We compute the

  • dive and movement behavior
  • geo-referenced movement

We measure the

  • signal intensity
  • emission direction
  • directionality
  • click interval
  • spectral composition
